Stock is the ledger the whole system leans on. A stock card carries its code, name, unit, material and the minimum level that triggers a warning; the same card is used in the quotation, the work order, purchasing and shipping, so nobody keeps a second list.
Movements are always tied to a document: goods receipt, issue to a work order, return, transfer between warehouses, scrap. A quantity never changes without a reason behind it, which is what makes the balance trustworthy months later.
Lot tracking is where aerospace and defence work is won or lost. The batch number and the material certificate entered at goods receipt travel with the material through every issue and into the finished part, so a shipped lot can be traced back to the raw batch and forward to every customer that received it.
Warehouses and shelf locations are defined as deep as you need them. Material waiting for incoming inspection sits in quarantine and cannot be issued to a work order until it is released, which removes the most common cause of a late nonconformity.
