Classic ERP, pure MES and TIQERP

Three categories meet you when looking for production software. Here is what each one solves and what it does not.

  • One database: no transfers or mappings between modules
  • Installed on your own server, no per-user fee
  • Quality, calibration and the tool crib are part of the same system

Where each approach falls short

What each category solves and what it does not

Classic ERP

Quoting, stock and purchasing are solid, but splitting an operation or changing operators mid-shift usually needs custom development.

Strong commercially, weak on the floor See the screen

Pure MES

It monitors production but needs a separate ERP for quoting, stock, purchasing and costing.

Sees the floor, not the commercial side See the screen

TIQERP

Quoting, planning, the terminal, quality, calibration, tooling and costing move on the same record, installed on your own server.

Both sides on one database See the screen

Scope comparison

The table below compares categories rather than products. Any given product may not carry the typical scope of its category, so we suggest asking each candidate about these rows one by one during your evaluation.

Do you have to buy two systems?

The common answer is an ERP for the commercial side and an MES for the floor, connected to each other. That arrangement creates three cost items: the integration itself, the work of keeping the same bill of materials current in two places, and two separate support lines. TIQERP's answer is to put both on a single database — no transfers, no mapping, no overnight jobs.

So what does TIQERP not do?

To be straight about it: it does not issue invoices and does not keep ledgers; those stay in your accounting software, and only the invoice number is marked in TIQERP.
